Flat out WAP

I walked in the office this morning to see Stéphane (our CTO) poring over a tangled stringball of a diagram that he tells me is a map of all the pages and links on the wap site.

There are hundreds of connections and "we're going to test every one of them". It would all be a lot simpler if we were developing some hierarchical site that holds the user's hand taking them step by step from need to fulfilment. But we're not. We're building a WAP site with a flat structure - a dynamic, interactive service where every page can present information in multiple ways according to the context and history of the user's behaviour. The radar screen for example can be a flirt finder or a pizza locator or an IM contacts list. It's a headache but it's rewarding to see the result - coming soon to a screen near you.
